We're Moving!

Last year we took a cycling adventure and rode our bikes from our home in Washington state to our families in Utah. It was a fantastic life experience and we hope to broaden our cycling horizons even more this year.
We have also decided to tackle a very different kind of challenge.
A home renovation adventure.

Shelly has always been passionate about creating beautiful, comfortable and inviting spaces. She has a real knack for it and is often sought out for advice from friends and family.
I've been wanting to do something to more actively support her dreams ever since taking a break from the corporate world last year, so once we finished our summer adventure we began brainstorming what that might look like.
Shelly’s gift is seeing potential in ordinary things and making them beautiful! She does it with people - especially teenage youth - as she teaches them skills and values through her volunteer work. She does it with our family as she coaches, mentors and mothers us into being our best selves. And she has done it in our home, making the inside and outside of our home a comfortable, beautiful and peaceful place to be.
We decided to more fully explore her passion with a crazy kind of project. We are going to immerse ourselves in every stage of redesigning and constructing a beautiful home by selling our current home and moving into an abandoned HUD home down the street which needs a lot of love.
Here is the really crazy part: unlike most renovations we've done, we are not only going to design the home ourselves but also tackle as much of the work as we can including opening and building walls, laying floors, installing doors, building cabinets, built-ins and furniture. :)
So yes, we're moving...six houses down the street to the worst house in the neighborhood! If you're ever in Duvall, feel free to stop in and visit our office/work site. Chances are, we'll be there! :)
How you can help
We really appreciated the support we received last year while riding our cycle tour. If you’re interested in watching this adventure unfold, and maybe picking up some ideas for your own home, please follow us on:
Facebook (we’ll use this as an aggregator of all we do)
Instagram Follow us @staplesofhome (we’ll post our finished designs here, so it may take a while to fill with content)
Our Blog @ staplesofhome.com (expect posts here as we have progress to share, probably at least once a week, sometimes more frequent)
Youtube channel (Our son Ethan has volunteered to help create videos of our progress so you can see the work in action, unfortunately they take a lot of time and effort, and Ethan is busy, so expect only one video a week, at best!)
And be sure to "like" what you see, give us feedback, and share with friends!
Thank you friends, for all of your interest and support over the years! Here’s to another adventure!
